1. Privacy at a glance
General information
The following notes provide a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data is any data that can be used to identify you personally. For detailed information, please refer to the privacy policy set out below this text.
Who is responsible for data collection on this website?
Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You will find their contact details in the section “Information on the controller” below and in the imprint.
How do we collect your data?
Some of your data is collected because you provide it to us — for example details you enter in the contact form or send us by email or tell us by phone.
Other data is collected automatically by our IT systems when you visit the website. This is mainly technical data (e.g. browser, operating system, time of the page request). This data is collected automatically as soon as you enter the website.
What do we use your data for?
Part of the data is collected to ensure the website is provided without errors and securely. Other data is used to answer your enquiries.
What rights do you have regarding your data?
You have the right at any time to obtain information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request that this data be corrected or deleted. If you have given consent to data processing, you can withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right, under certain circumstances, to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. You can contact us at any time at the address given in the imprint regarding this and any other questions on the subject of data protection.
What this website deliberately does not do
This website is built so that as little data as possible is generated by simply viewing it, and so that no data flows to third parties:
- No cookies and no comparable technologies. We do not use cookies, nor local storage for recognition purposes, nor device fingerprinting. For this reason, this website does not require a cookie or consent banner.
- No third-party content that loads by itself. No map services (in particular no Google Maps), no social media plugins and no advertising networks are embedded. A few articles contain YouTube videos, but these load only once you click them (see “YouTube videos” below). Without your click, no request goes to Google.
- No external fonts. Typefaces are served from our own server, not from Google Fonts or any other third-party provider.
- No newsletter. We do not operate a newsletter through this website.
Consequently, no connection to third-party servers is established when a page of this website is loaded.
2. Hosting
External hosting
This website is operated on a rented virtual private server (VPS) provided by an external service provider. The personal data collected on this website is stored on that provider’s servers. This may in particular include IP addresses, contact requests, meta and communication data, contact details, names and website access data.
The provider is used for the purpose of fulfilling our contract with our potential and existing customers (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) and in the interest of the secure, fast and efficient provision of our online offering by a professional provider (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
We use the following provider:
HOSTINGER operations, UAB
Švitrigailos str. 34, 03230 Vilnius, Lithuania
hostinger.com/de
The servers hosting this website are located in Germany. Your data is therefore processed exclusively within the European Union.
We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) with this provider pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The provider processes your data only to the extent necessary to fulfil its performance obligations and follows our instructions in doing so.
3. General information and mandatory disclosures
Data protection
The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.
Please note that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by email) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
Information on the controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
MARS ORBITER Pieces & Services GmbH
Managing Director Conrad Buck
Rotdornstr. 21
34323 Malsfeld
Germany
Phone: +49 (0) 5661 7550617
Email: info@marsorbiter.de
The controller is the natural or legal person who alone or jointly with others decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data.
Storage period
Unless a more specific storage period is stated within this privacy policy, your personal data remains with us until the purpose for processing it no longer applies. If you assert a justified request for deletion or withdraw your consent to data processing, your data will be deleted, unless we have other legally permissible grounds for storing it (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in the latter case, deletion takes place once those grounds cease to apply.
Recipients of personal data
We only pass on personal data where this is legally permitted or required. Recipients are exclusively the service providers named in this policy (hosting, email delivery), who act for us as processors pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR, and, where applicable, public authorities in the context of statutory obligations.
Transfer of data to third countries
No personal data is transferred to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area in connection with this website.
Withdrawal of your consent to data processing
Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can withdraw consent you have already given at any time. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out up to the point of withdrawal remains unaffected.
Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)
If data processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right at any time to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. The respective legal basis on which processing is based can be found in this privacy policy. If you object, we will no longer process your personal data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims (objection pursuant to Art. 21 (1) GDPR).
If your personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for such marketing; this also applies to profiling insofar as it is connected with such direct marketing. If you object, your personal data will no longer be used for direct marketing purposes (objection pursuant to Art. 21 (2) GDPR).
Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
In the event of infringements of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of their habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement. The authority competent for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Gustav-Stresemann-Ring 1, 65189 Wiesbaden, Germany. This right to lodge a complaint is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.
Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only take place where it is technically feasible.
Information, deletion and correction
Within the framework of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing, and, if applicable, a right to have this data corrected or deleted. You can contact us at any time at the address given in the imprint regarding this and any other questions on the subject of personal data.
Right to restriction of processing
You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. To do so, you can contact us at any time at the address given in the imprint. The right to restriction of processing exists in the following cases:
- If you dispute the accuracy of the personal data we hold about you, we usually need time to verify this. For the duration of the review, you have the right to request restriction of processing.
- If the processing of your personal data was or is unlawful, you may request restriction of processing instead of deletion.
- If we no longer need your personal data but you need it to exercise, defend or assert legal claims, you have the right to request restriction of processing instead of deletion.
- If you have lodged an objection pursuant to Art. 21 (1) GDPR, a balance must be struck between your interests and ours. As long as it has not been established whose interests prevail, you have the right to request restriction of processing.
If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data may — apart from being stored — only be processed with your consent, or to assert, exercise or defend legal claims, or to protect the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or a Member State.
SSL/TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content that you send to us as the site operator, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the browser’s address bar changes from “http://” to “https://” and by the padlock symbol in your browser bar. When SSL/TLS encryption is active, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
4. Data collection on this website
Server log files
The provider of these pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser transmits automatically. These are:
- browser type and browser version,
- operating system used,
- referrer URL (the page previously visited),
- host name of the accessing computer,
- time of the server request,
- IP address.
This data is not merged with other data sources. It is collected on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and security of its website — server log files must be recorded for this purpose. The log data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the stated purposes, unless it is exceptionally needed for longer to investigate a specific security incident.
[PLACEHOLDER — specific retention period for server log files; to be determined when the deployment pipeline is set up (MO-018) and inserted here. Two sources are affected: the web server itself and the upstream reverse proxy (Coolify/Traefik), which also logs every request together with the IP address. The longer of the two periods is the one that must be stated.]
Contact form
If you send us an enquiry via the contact form, the details you provide in the form will be stored by us for the purpose of processing your enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. The following details are transmitted:
- name,
- email address,
- phone number (optional),
- subject,
- your message,
- the language version of the page from which you submitted the form.
We do not pass on this data without your consent.
This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, insofar as your enquiry relates to the performance of a contract or is necessary to carry out pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective handling of enquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), where this has been requested.
The data you enter in the contact form remains with us until you ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. once your enquiry has been dealt with). Mandatory statutory provisions — in particular retention periods — remain unaffected.
Spam protection. To fend off automated bulk submissions, the form contains an additional field that is invisible to you (a “honeypot”), which only programs fill in, as well as a server-side limit of five submissions per IP address per hour. For this limit, your IP address is held only transiently in our server’s working memory and discarded after one hour at the latest; it is not stored permanently, not logged and not passed on. This is the only point at which the contact form processes an IP address. A captcha service or comparable third-party tool is deliberately not used, nor are cookies or scripts loaded from third parties. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in preventing misuse (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Delivery of the form message. Your form message is delivered directly from our own server to our mailbox by email (SMTP); your name and email address are set as the message’s reply address so that we can respond to you directly. No third-party form or delivery service is interposed — the form data is never handed over to an external programming interface. The provider of the mail server through which the email is delivered processes the data you enter in the form on our behalf.
[PLACEHOLDER — company name and address of the mail server provider. Still open as of MO-011 (10 August 2026): if an in-house mail server on our own server is used, this paragraph is dropped entirely; if a mailbox at the domain/hosting provider is used, that provider’s company name and address must be inserted.]
Enquiries by email or phone
If you contact us by email or phone, your enquiry including all resulting personal data (name, request) will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request.
The data you send us remains with us until you ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies. Mandatory statutory provisions — in particular statutory retention periods — remain unaffected.
5. Technologies used
Self-hosted fonts
This website uses the typefaces Syncopate and Open Sans for a consistent presentation. The font files are located on our own server and are served from there. No connection is made to Google Fonts servers or to any other font provider, and no data is transferred to third parties.
Self-hosted videos
Videos on this website are served as files from our own server. No data is transferred to third parties when they are played.
YouTube videos — only after your consent
A few articles refer to videos hosted on YouTube (provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland).
Simply opening the page transmits nothing to YouTube. In place of the video you first see a placeholder carrying this notice. As long as you do not click, no YouTube element exists on the page — so no connection is opened and no preview image is fetched from a Google server.
Only when you click “Load video” is the video fetched. The following is then transmitted to Google:
- your IP address,
- details about your browser, operating system and screen resolution,
- the address of the page on which you loaded the video,
- and, if you are signed in to Google at the same time, the association with your Google account.
Transfer to the USA and other third countries is possible. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; for transfers to further third countries Google relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
The legal basis is solely your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given by clicking “Load video”. You may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future by reloading the page — the placeholder then returns.
We embed the videos via youtube-nocookie.com (Google calls this “privacy-enhanced mode”). Your consent is not stored: we use neither a cookie nor local storage for it. The price is that you have to click again on every page load; the benefit is that this website still needs no consent banner.
For details of what Google processes, see Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Map display without a map service
The map extract showing our location is a static image file stored on our own server (map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). No interactive map service is embedded — in particular no Google Maps. When the page is loaded, no connection is made to a map provider and your IP address is not transmitted to any such provider.
Links to external websites
Individual articles on this website link to external pages (for example to third-party videos or press articles). Such links are pure references: data is only transferred to the respective provider once you actively click the link and open the external page. The provider of the target page is solely responsible for data processing there; their privacy policy applies.
6. Web analytics
For measuring reach, we intend to use a cookie-free, privacy-friendly analytics tool that works without cookies, without recognising individual people and without transferring data to third countries. As at the date of this policy, no such tool is active.
As soon as an analytics tool is used, we will add the provider’s name, the scope of the data collected, the legal basis and the storage period at this point before it is activated.
[PLACEHOLDER — analytics tool to be selected in MO-016; this section must be completed before activation]
